Separate match Yen, permanent Gold, gems and mode currencies before choosing an upgrade.
Use the correct currency
Yen pays for placements and upgrades inside a match. Account Gold and crafting costs belong to permanent progression. Gems fund summons; trait rerolls and Prisms have their own uses. A larger gem balance does not pay a Spirit Petal shop price.

Read the failure before spending
Air enemies escaping calls for a Hill or Hybrid attacker. A boss surviving your whole damage area calls for more damage or useful control. A carry you cannot afford to upgrade calls for economy placement and timing. Solve the observed failure before buying another duplicate unit.
Spend Gold on the chosen recipe
Yuta’s crafted Katana route includes 12,000 coins as well as Remnants. Update 1 Jolius requires one Sixfold Spirit Crystals, crafted with 20 Azure, 6 Violet, 6 Radiant, 4 Prismatic and 9,000 Gold, according to the September 6 patch guide. Reserve those costs before optional shop rolls.
What artifacts contribute
Artifacts are opened through their portal process for quest and crafting rewards. They are not interchangeable with an equipped damage roll. Target the SND artifact type your quest needs, use Umbral Splinters to refine when appropriate, and save its named reward for that recipe.
When saving is useful
Saving is productive when it completes a known evolution item or a planned banner budget. Spending is productive when it fixes a loss or lowers measured clear time. Compare two successful runs with the same stage and speed; include loading and failed attempts in the hourly rate.

Should I spend every gem immediately?
No. Reserve a known recipe or summon budget, then spend on the roster gap that causes failed clears.
Are artifacts equipped damage gear?
